The Polycom SoundStation Premier (Non-Expandable) (2200-05200-001) is ideal for large rooms and situations demanding the highest audio quality. The Premier ensures the highest sound quality with 3 microphones and a digitally-tuned speaker for 360-degree coverage of an office or conference room. The Polycom's Acoustic Clarity Technology uses digital signal processing with analog telephone lines to eliminate the clipping and fading that plagues most speakerphones.

This technology improves speaker and microphone performance over the full bandwidth of the telephone line, 300 to 3,500 Hz. Other features that boost system sound quality include dynamic telephone-line echo cancellation, dynamic room-echo cancellation, signal depression, microphone switching and digital filtering of voice signals. The Premier model features a separate echo canceller for each of its 3 console mics, optimized local speech quality and sub-band echo cancellation for incredible stability, even at maximum volume.

Key Term Definitions
Analog:
Analog is the original telephone technology, a system that converts air vibrations (like those created by the human voice) into similar electrical frequencies. Analog lines can support phones, fax machines, and modems and are typically found in homes or small office settings.

Automatic Gain Control:
This adaptive technology is a standard feature in most electronic devices. Automatic Gain Control (AGC) takes the average output signal level and adjusts the gain to the appropriate level for input signal levels.

Cardioid Microphones:
A cardioid microphone, the most popular for conferencing systems, picks up sound/signals primarily from the front of the microphone.

Dynamic Noise Reduction:
One of Polycom’s signature features, Dynamic Noise Reduction (DNR) can cut down dynamic noise by as much as 10 decibels providing the user with optimum microphone sensitivity.

ECHO Cancellation and Suppression:
With the cancellation and suppression processes, information is only sent across the line when someone is actually speaking, so when a person stops talking the signal is cut off.

Full Duplex Operation:
The full duplex feature allows simultaneous flow of audio signals between your conferencing phone and that of the outside caller.
